ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Mike is married to Andrea, and they have three children. They live in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks a lot like Bear Country.

AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

I loved this book. I haven't been a fan of Berenstain Bears books in the past. They were cute, but I disliked the portrayal of Papa Bear as a somewhat clueless, bumbling character who is constantly bailed out by his kids. So many things in entertainment were going that direction and denigrating dads and it grieved me. However, I love the direction these new books are taking. This book showed the parents working together with the kids to benefit the whole family. What a wonderful message in this day and age. I'm looking forward to obtaining more of these for my kids to read.
